[12th November, 2016 (Saturday)] Founded in September 1996, the Senior Citizen Home Safety Association (SCHSA) has been delivering love and care to the elderly in Hong Kong for two decades through its renowned Call and Care Service. Financial Secretary John Tsang Chun-wah officiated at a ceremony to kick off a series of events this year marking the 20th anniversary of the award-winning social enterprise. He was joined at SCHSA headquarters in Ho Man Tin by Albert Cheng Jihan, chairman and co-founder of SCHSA, along with more than 100 guests and partners from different sectors.
Mr. Cheng said: “The Call and Care Service has served more than 220,000 local elderly people and won recognition from the general public. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the support we have received from our partners throughout society. Hand in hand with them, we have delivered peace of mind to seniors here in Hong Kong.”
Mr. John Tsang officiated the “Running Oi Man" event, a creative fund-raising campaign that took place in the Oi Man Estate area where SCHSA headquarters are located. 11 teams with representatives from the corporate sector and public services organizations have entered into the race, competing on missions around the landmarks of the estate. Funds raised from the competition will be contributed to SCHSA’s charitable programmes that offer “Personal Emergency Link” and “Mobile Link” services for free to elderly people and the needy in financial difficulties.
Later in the afternoon, the “SCHSA 20th Anniversary Appreciation Ceremony” was held. Dr. Law Chi-kwong, the co-founder and Honorary Treasurer of SCHSA, Mr. Donald Tsang Yam-kuen, Mr. Peter Lam Yuk-wah and Mr. Cheung Man-kwong had chit-chats at the ceremony, to share their memories of SCHSA over the past two decades.
